Abstract

Abstract Mental emotional disorders are form of psychosocial problems, namely psychiatric problems that have reciprocity due to social changes in society. Efforts to identify and handle psychosocial problems have to start from the first level of health services (Public Health Center/PHC) according to their capacity. In this case, PHC can work with partners (mental health cadres) to optimize their role, by providing appropriate education or training for cadres. This study aimed to optimize the role of health cadres in the management of psychosocial problems by providing training on five-finger hypnosis. The study design was observational analytic with cross sectional study approach. The sample consisted of 16 health cadres in the working area of Pakis PHC, selected by purposive sampling technique. Analysis of data using Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test. The results showed that there were differences in cadre knowledge before and after training on five-finger hypnosis (p value <0.05). It is hoped that cadres participating in the training can become pioneers in their environment and be able to share their knowledge with other health cadres in the working area of Pakis PHC. The role of cadres in applying the five-finger hypnosis technique can be an initial treatment towards psychosocial problems in the community, as well as a prevention towards the onset of mental disorders. Keywords: cadres, psychosocial problems, five-finger hypnosis
